How to Sponsor Someone: A Step-by-Step Guide

Begin with Prayer
Reflect on your own Walk to Emmaus and ask God to lead you to someone who is open, spiritually ready, and longing to grow in their faith.
Invite with Purpose
Once you feel led, personally reach out. Share your experience, explain what the Walk is, and invite them into this opportunity with love and encouragement.
Confirm the Commitment
Make sure your potential pilgrim or caterpillar is available and able to set aside the retreat weekend—free from distractions—to fully experience God’s presence.
Help with the Application
Walk them through the application process—online or on paper. Ensure all information is filled out correctly and offer to answer any questions along the way.
Submit & Prepare
Send in the application along with the $50 deposit. You can email a scanned copy and mail the original. You’ll both receive confirmation once they’re accepted.
Support the Journey
Once confirmed, you’ll receive a sponsor guide with next steps, helpful tips, and a sample letter. Be present, pray, and walk alongside them through the entire weekend.
