Required Under-18 Volunteer Permission & Expectations Form
This is an additional form for volunteers under age 18. It does not replace the general Volunteer Application.
A parent or legal guardian must complete this form after the minor submits the general Volunteer Application.
Coastal Carolina Emmaus Community welcomes young people “butterflies” who want to serve. However, CCEC does not provide childcare or continuous one-on-one supervision. Minor volunteers must check in with their assigned chairperson, remain in their assigned service area, and follow all volunteer, supervision, and safety expectations.
Supervision Arrangements
Minor volunteers may serve between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. During those hours, they must remain with their assigned volunteer area and follow the directions of the chairperson or adult overseeing that area.
To serve before 7:00 a.m., after 7:00 p.m., or stay overnight, the minor must be accompanied by their parent, legal guardian, or a parent-authorized adult chaperone approved by CCEC.
Overnight Accommodations
Overnight accommodations for minors are not automatically approved. The responsible parent, legal guardian, or approved adult chaperone must also stay overnight and remain responsible for the minor. All arrangements are subject to CCEC approval, room availability, facility requirements, and any applicable lodging fees.
Volunteering with CCEC is an opportunity to serve others. It is not a social gathering or childcare program.
Minor volunteers are expected to:
-Check in with their assigned chairperson immediately upon arrival.
-Remain in their assigned volunteer area unless given permission to leave.
-Follow directions from their chairperson, parent, guardian, or approved chaperone.
-Treat pilgrims, team members, volunteers, and facility staff respectfully.
-Respect the privacy of pilgrims and weekend activities.
-Refrain from taking or posting photographs or videos without permission.
-Use appropriate language and behavior.
-Follow all CCEC and facility safety rules.
-Ask permission before leaving the assigned volunteer area.
-Sign out with the chairperson before leaving.
-Never leave the property without the knowledge and permission of their parent, chaperone, and assigned chairperson.
-Refrain from alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, vaping, weapons, bullying, harassment, disruptive behavior, and unsafe conduct.
Consequences
A minor who does not follow these expectations may be redirected or removed from their volunteer assignment. The parent, guardian, or chaperone will be notified and may be required to pick up the minor immediately.
Serious or repeated violations may prevent the minor from volunteering at the remainder of the event or at future CCEC events.
